Pomfret Town Offices

The Town of Pomfret, Vermont determined that an old, unused one-room school house in the center of town would make the ideal location for a new Town Office.  The school had only been used occasionally for community meetings.  It lacked handicap accessibility, a reliable heat system, and proper storage for town records.

UK Architects renovated the interior of the building to provide separate offices for the town clerk, treasurer, and listers.  An addition to the back of the building provided a new, accessible entrance, an accessible restroom, and a fireproof vault for storage of town records.  New, energy efficient windows replaced old, drafty windows, and insulation was added to the attic and 60% of the exterior walls.
